Spuds fall in Ammerman's coaching debut

MOORHEAD – Riley Tufte and Tyler Cline scored third-period goals to lift Blaine to a 6-4 win over Moorhead in Minnesota boys hockey Saturday.

“When we are playing the top team we can’t give them as many opportunities as we did,” said Jon Ammerman, who coached his first game for the Spuds. “A couple of their top guys got loose at the wrong time and made us pay when they were open.”

Cline added two more goals and an assist for Blaine.

The Spuds (0-1) were led by goalie Jacob Dittmer, who collected 30 saves and Jayden Masseth’s two goals. Alex Mehnert had three assists.

“Jacob Dittmer had a heck of a game,” said Ammerman. “We thought we got a lot better as the game progressed.”
