Police make arrest after West Fargo man is hit in head with ax handle

WEST FARGO – A West Fargo man suffered significant head injuries after a he has hit in the head with an ax handle early Sunday morning, according to a police report.

West Fargo police were dispatched to the Sanford Hospital emergency room shortly before 11 a.m. where 24-year-old Cole Lebrun was being treated for a head injury. Lebrun and another witness told police he had been hit in the head with a blunt object and lost consciousness around 3 a.m. that morning on the 200 block of Morlson Street in West Fargo.

Police identified Erik Erdmann, 22, of West Fargo, as the suspect in the case. Erdmann was arrested for aggravated assault and taken to Cass County Jail.

In his home, police found an ax handle believed to be the weapon in the assault.
