South's Stroup sets Class A tournament kills record, Bruins fall to Bismarck in seventh-place matchMINOT, N.D. – South sophomore Emily Stroup set the Class A state tournament record for kills by hammering her 74th over the three-day span, though the Bruins fell in five sets to Bismarck High for seventh place.
Stroup had 29 kills in an opening-round loss and 15 in consolation play on Friday. She hammered 30 against the Demons, who triumphed 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 13-25 and 15-13.
"Emily's a phenomenal player, so she will always have a lot of kills," Fargo South coach Andrea Hummel said. "She's the type of player that sees the court well and gets things taken care of when she makes contact."
Bismarck High's Morgan Miller had a team-best 10 kills in the win.
