Letter: Know that truth is invincible

The 24/7 prayer vigil gathering at the Red River Women’s Clinic abortion facility, “40 Days for Life,” for year 2013 was completed earlier this month. This year, the abortion facility staff posted a new set of their own 40 days of “prayer” requests. The language of these requests reads something like a cynical statement of “denial overload.”

In last year’s set of 40 pages by the abortion facility’s entrance, there was (at least!) one obscured reference to an unborn child in a pregnancy that is claimed to be “not sustainable.”

In this year’s set of pages, there is no reference whatsoever to the life of the unborn child. In this year’s pages, there are some 20 references to “pray” (?) for women. Also “prayer” for political candidates, elected officials, abortion doctors, supportive men (supportive of abortion), insurance companies (to cover abortion “health care”), abortion facility staff/escorts, family planning services, pharmacy workers, an end to the “hostile gauntlet” (in front of the facility that abortion clients must pass through), an end to gender discrimination, for marriage equality, no more hate speech, compassionate religious voices (approving of abortion), unrestricted access to all forms of birth control, an end to “unnecessary” medical procedures before an abortion, an end to “red tape,” more financial support for low-income women, etc., etc., etc.

As I said in a letter to the editor one year ago (after “40 Days for Life”): “We need to think this through. The choice in the abortion rights agenda to categorically deny the truth of the living humanity of the unborn child is precisely that denial of truth that will eventually defeat the abortion rights agenda.”

If something is wrong, it is wrong. We need to understand the invincibility of truth. It will prevail all the way to the far edge of eternity.
