Fort Wayne knocks Bison out of Summit volleyball tourney

INDIANAPOLIS – Emily Spencer tallied a match-high 14 kills as Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne claimed a 25-20, 25-19, 25-13 victory over North Dakota State during the first round of the Summit League volleyball tournament Friday.

Emily Minnick was the only Bison player to reach double-digit kills with 12.

Kendall Wienkes chipped in with 12 kills and 10 digs for the Mastodons.

North Dakota State ends the season with a 6-22 record.

NDSU (kills-blocks-aces): Minnick 12-1-1, Dombeck 0-0-1, Claxton 2-0-2 (25 assists, 10 digs), Steffen 1-1-0, Miron 2-2-0, Fassbender 9-0-0, DeGagne 1-0-0, Lee 1-0-0, Cammack 3-0-0.

IPFW: Spence 1-2-1 (32 assists), Ripley 3-3-0, Stoffel 0-0-1, Spencer 14-2-1, Heckman 5-1-0 Wienkes 12-2-2, Dryden 0-0-1, Milligan 0-0-0 (25 digs), Johnson 4-2-0.
