Minn. singer revives 'Jack Ruby' with new video
MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota singer-songwriter Paul Metsa is reviving his song "Jack Ruby" on the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination.
Metsa is releasing a new video of the song Thursday.
He wrote the song in 1991 about Jack Ruby, the Dallas nightclub owner who shot and killed Lee Harvey Osward, Kennedy's assassin. Two days after Kennedy's 1963 assassination, Ruby shot Oswald as he was being transferred to the county jail on Nov. 24.
Metsa's new video includes archival television footage of Ruby shooting Oswald. The song questions whether Oswald and Ruby were hired guns.
The song is featured on Metsa's new compilation CD, "Blues, Ballads and Broadsides — Songs from the Blue Guitar Highway."
