Weekend Watch: ‘Love’s Labour’s Lost’ and ‘Swashbuckled’
Get a jump start on the holiday season with a couple of festive plays at area colleges. North Dakota State University opens “Love’s Labour’s Lost,” Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, tonight. The Bard explores the tension between self-restraint and attraction when King Ferdinand and three of his men vow to stay away from women for three years. Sparks start flying at 7:30, tonight through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Askanase Auditorium. Tickets are free with NDSU student ID, or range from $5 to $20. (701) 231-7969.
Minnesota State University Moorhead ships off this Saturday for the pirate adventure, “Swashbuckled.” The family-friendly play, written by MSUM director Craig Ellingson and recent graduates Matthew Englund and Ryan Soukup, follows three pirates as they sing and dance in search of the missing pirate king. This free show ships off at 1 and 4 p.m. at MSUM’s Hansen Theatre.
