ND man pleads guilty to child sex abuse chargesFARGO — A federal judge says he's debating a stiff sentence for a North Dakota man with a history of criminal offenses against children.
Erick McKay, of Devils Lake, pleaded guilty in federal court to two felony counts of abusive sexual contact. Authorities say the victim was a girl who was under 12 years old.
The 40-year-old was previously convicted in 2002 of shaking his infant son to death. He was first released from prison in 2008 and then in 2010 after his probation was revoked.
U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson says in court documents that McKay's conduct and criminal history could call for a sentence above federal guideline ranges.
Sentencing for McKay is scheduled for Feb. 12.
