Fargo-based nonprofit preparing to send veterinary team to PhilippinesFARGO – World Vets, a nonprofit here that looks out for the needs of animals in developing countries and during times of disaster, is preparing to send a veterinary team to the Philippines.
Cathy King, CEO of World Vets, said a Denmark veterinarian and a team of assistants will be en route to the Philippines area that was ravaged by Typhoon Haiyan on Nov. 8.
Along with putting a veterinary team on the ground in the Philippines, World Vets is seeking donations to send veterinary supplies and pet food to the area, said Katie Jacobson, office and volunteer coordinator at the Fargo World Vets headquarters.
King said veterinarians from around the world help the nonprofit provide veterinary care in developing countries. The group also assists during major international disasters and in North Dakota.
Donations can be made on the nonprofit’s website at www.worldvets.org
