Hoeven nominates 6 to military academies

WASHINGTON – Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., has nominated six North Dakota students for appointment to U.S. military academies.

Those nominated are:

- U.S. Naval Academy: Chandler Vercher, son of Col. Robert and Amy Vercher, Minot; Jacob Santer, son of Donald and Alisen Santer, Fargo; Anthony Coronato, son of Athony and Christine Coronato, Fargo.

- U.S. Military Academy: Leah Fagerland, daughter of Berg Fagerland, Minot; Nicholas Scarberry, son of Eugene and Susan Scarberry, Fargo.

- U.S. Air Force Academy: Mitchell Robinson, son of Christopher and Louann Robinson.

Students must be nominated to an academy by a member of Congress, the vice president or a service branch secretary. Final appointment decisions are made by the academies.
