Contributions - 11/09/13Josef’s students collect shoes for charity
Students at Josef’s School of Hair Design in Fargo and their instructors, along with Mark J. Lindquist, founder of the global charity Heel Kicks Around the World, hosted a two-week campaign to collect shoes for the needy in Third World countries.
During the campaign, clients at the school who donated a pair of shoes received 25 percent off any service. The students collected more than 50 pairs of shoes, which were delivered to the Soles4Souls warehouse.
Arby’s raises funds to end childhood hunger
Arby’s restaurants across the country raised $3 million in August and September to support the Arby’s Foundation’s Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign.
Arby’s franchisee, Carisch Inc., raised the most money, contributing more than $134,000. Carisch owns and operates 67 Arby’s restaurants in seven states, including all restaurants in North Dakota and the Arby’s in Moorhead.
Customers were asked during the campaign to donate $1 to support the foundation and they received a pin-up card that was displayed on the wall of their local restaurant.
Forward’s online auction starts Tuesday
Forward Foundation’s inaugural online auction begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday and closes at 5 p.m. Dec. 10.
All donated items will be displayed at local Bank Forward or Insure Forward lobbies, and all items with a value greater than $50 will be available for viewing and bidding online.
The Forward Foundation serves children and their families in Bank Forward communities. All proceeds from the auction directly benefit the children served.

Kiwanis cash donations benefit area children
The Lake Agassiz Kiwanis Club in Fargo has donated more than $6,000 to local organizations that benefit area children.
Groups that received donations included: Kids Against Hunger, Scholastic Book Club, Nokomis Child Care; Big Brother/Big Sister, Yunker Farm, Fargo Air Museum, North Dakota Outdoor Adventure, Riding on Angels Wings, Jeremiah Program; TNT Kids Fitness, Sanford Children’s Hospitals: Alexa’s Hope; F-M Ambulance Service: Ronald McDonald House, Salvation Army and Got No Milk.
TNT receives $4K grant from Fargo Marathon
TNT Kid’s Fitness and Gymnastics Academy, Fargo, received a $4,000 grant from the Fargo Marathon.
The grant will support professional development, fitness, special needs and after school programming.
Purple Purse campaign raises $10K for YWCA
As part of domestic violence awareness month in October, the Allstate Foundation launched the Purple Purse campaign to raise awareness of domestic violence and raise money for local YWCA associations and the YWCA USA.
In the Fargo-Moorhead area, the YWCA Cass Clay passed 10 purple purses more than 6,800 times and raised more than $34,000 to help end domestic violence. Each local association had a maximum cap of raising $10,000 with any additional money raised through purse passing donated to the YWCA USA, up to $350,000.
