Moorhead day care owner appears in court over child endangerment chargesMOORHEAD - A day care owner here accused of taking care of four kids while drunk appeared in Clay County District Court Thursday morning to face child endangerment charges.
Jayne Ann Cote, 54, was released on her own recognizance on the condition she not consume alcohol or have contact with the father of one of the children at the daycare, who reported he believed Cote was drinking on the job Oct. 2 to police.
Court documents filed with the case say Cote was losing her balance while trying to place an infant on a changing table at her home, walking around with her pants undone, and had left cereal all over the floor.
Cote's attorney said in court parents of the children had reached out to her client to express support for Cote as the case goes forward.
Her next court appearance is set for Dec. 19.
