Cat's Meow more like cat's meh
So when I find a contraption that claims to improve the quality of my pampered cats’ lives, I’m a bit of a pushover (i.e. crazy cat lady).
Enter the Cat’s Meow, a yellow nylon circle that hides a battery-operated “mouse” that ensures “hours of fun and exercise” for my felines.
The As-Seen-On-TV product retails for $19.95 and can be found a local big box stores or online. The commercial promises a “never quit” motor and “rip stop” nylon, claims so far proven true, though likely because my cats don’t seem that interested in even touching the thing.
The “irresistible” fun advertised isn’t so guaranteed. My naturally playful, young cats wore down their first set of batteries just watching – not playing with – the Cat’s Meow.
The motor is ridiculously loud. In fact, I’ve heard quieter vacuum cleaners, and any cat owner knows what their pets think of those.
Our cats eventually did start to pounce on the mouse, but they lost interest in it fast.
I’m starting to question what they paid the TV cats with …
Bottom line: If you have a $20 bill burning a hole in your pocket, invest in a whole lot of string rather than this silly contraption sure to wind up in many rummage sales this summer.
