INTERNS AND PAGES: Nicholas Aune has been hired as FirstLink’s emergency management intern. Aune is a political science major at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

MSUM NEWS: Minnesota State University Moorhead has awarded scholarships to the following students: Ryan Leach, son of Patrick and Cindy Leach, Glyndon, Minn., $5,000 Achievement Scholarship; Brittany Coalwell-Escobedo, son of Dave and Liz Coalwell, Sabin, Minn., $1,000 Upper Class Scholarship; and Crystal Branden, son of Mitch and Sheila Branden, Fargo, $4,000 University Scholarship.

CONCORDIA COLLEGE NEWS: Concordia student Cameron Wintersteen, son of David and Carolyn Wintersteen, Moorhead, was a member of a speech team who took third in the duo interpretation category of the Jackrabbit Joust tournament recently held at South Dakota State University in Brookings.

COLLEGE BOUND: Samantha Sheldon, daughter of Michael Sheldon and Tracy Sheldon, Fargo, has been accepted to attend Carleton College.

4-H NEWS: Clay County 4-H members were winners in several recent state competitions.

E State Shoot/Wildlife Invitational:

Black Powder categories: Garrett Seifert, Danny Reichel and Lauren Korynta.

Single Score Events: Larissa Seifert, Max Okke, Zach Brusseau and Kayla Kuhlmann.

Individual Results - Trap: Walker Erdman, Mason Okke and Danny Reichel.

E State Dog Show:

Avery Breiland won reserve champion in the beginner agility category as well as ribbons in obedience, rally and showmanship categories.

Joslin Forness won ribbons in agility, obedience, rally and showmanship categories.

Danny Reichel won ribbons in obedience, rally and showmanship categories.

Annie Vail was named the winner in the advanced agility category and reserve champion in the jumpers agility category as well as ribbons in obedience and rally.

State Horse Show:

Bailley DeJong placed in Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Hunt Seat Equitation, Trail.

Nicole Hustad placed in poles, jumping figure and key race.

Logan Lewis placed in poles, barrels, jumping figure and key race.

Hannah Tollefsrud placed in western horsemanship and trail.

Chandra Hustad placed in the key race.

Brooklyn Spencer placed in jumping figure.

Annise Montplaisir and Breanna Brown both placed in horse related.
