Assistant Moorhead school superintendent announces resignation

MOORHEAD – The Moorhead School Board accepted the resignation of Assistant Superintendent Wayne Kazmierczak on Monday.

Kazmierczak has taken a job with White Bear Lake public schools, where he will be director of finance and operations, he said.

His resignation takes effect Jan. 14.

Kazmierczak will begin working in White Bear Lake on Jan. 15, he said.

Kazmierczak has worked in the Moorhead School District since Jan. 1, 2008.

He oversees and coordinates the Moorhead School District’s curriculum and instruction, finance, technology, buildings and grounds, transportation, food services and Community Education.

Kazmierczak said his wife comes from the northeast part of the Minneapolis-St Paul metro area, so there are family ties to that area.

“It was unexpected. The timing wasn’t ideal, but things kind of fell into place,” he said.

He said when he arrived in Moorhead, the district faced financial challenges, but between budget cuts and the community’s support of a new operating levy, things changed around.

“The district is on very, very stable footing financially,” Kazmierczak said. “It’s nice when you work somewhere and when you leave, you feel like you made a difference.”
