Weather Talk: Can body aches foretell changes in the weather?

Probably since the beginning of time, people have associated body aches such as joint pains and headaches with changing weather, but the connection is still not very well understood.

It is reasonable to believe there is a connection between joint pain and a lowering of barometric pressure because of the way a lowering of air pressure can cause the bursa in joints to swell. It also seems reasonable to conclude that some headaches can be caused by very low indoor humidity caused by cold temperatures outside.

But even if body aches can signal a change in pressure, they are probably not very good forecasters. For example, a lowering barometric pressure is not always a sign of precipitation. And there is not a very good correlation between the amount the pressure drops and the amount of precipitation that falls.
