Five awesomely terrible quotes from Gwyneth Paltrow

FARGO – Gwyneth Paltrow is easy to hate on.

The actress, who was named People magazine’s World’s Most Beautiful Woman earlier this year, is known for her pretentious comments and fondness of name-dropping celebrity friends.

The New York Post called her an “insuff-erable elitist.” The term seems to aptly describe the seemingly egocentric star who says ridiculous things like “I don’t want to be rich, and I don’t want to be famous” despite the obvious fact that she is.

At least her thoughtless ramblings make for good entertainment. So, pour yourself a glass of sustainable, organic wine after your two-hour morning workout with Tracy Anderson (GP would want it that way), and enjoy five of her best-worst quotes.

1. Paltrow on America versus Europe:

“We have great dinner parties at which everyone sits around talking about politics, history, art and literature – all this peppered with really funny jokes. But back in America, I was at a party and a girl looked at me and said, ‘Oh, my God! Are those Juicy jeans that you’re wearing?’ and I thought, I can’t stay here. I have to get back to Europe.”

2. “I am who I am. I can’t pretend to be somebody who makes $25,000 a year.”

A: You’re right, GP, you can’t pretend to be somebody who makes $25,000 a year. You couldn’t afford your $695 “perfect everyday boots” by Loeffler Randall if you lived like the 46.2 million U.S. residents who try to get by on $23,492 or less a year.

3. “I would rather die than let my kid eat Cup-a-Soup.”

A: The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that one in eight people were suffering from chronic undernourishment in 2010 to 2012.

4. After her 29th birthday, Paltrow had this to say: “Beauty fades! I just turned 29, so I probably don’t have that many good years left in me.”

5. “I’d rather smoke crack than eat cheese from a can.”

A: Remember when you said your daughter eats Cheetos? Remember when you said you smoke one cigarette a week?
