North Dakota public college enrollment dips

BISMARCK – Total enrollment for North Dakota’s 11 public colleges and universities dipped slightly this fall, according to figures released Wednesday.

In 2012, the North Dakota State University System had 48,203 total students enrolled compared to 48,015 this year – a 0.04 percent decrease.

Graduate enrollment had a 6.7 percent boost this year, while those enrolled at community colleges increased by 0.9 percent and state university enrollment fell slightly.

Five schools – Bismarck State College, Dickinson State University, Lake Region State College, Minot State University and the University of North Dakota – reported lower headcount enrollment this year than last.

Over the past five years, total headcount enrollment at the state’s schools has increased by 4.8 percent.
