Two ND natives to be inducted into curling Hall of FameFARGO – Two North Dakota natives – Jerome Larson and Jon Mielke – will be inducted into the United States Curling Association Hall of Fame when the U.S. Olympic Team Trials will be held Nov. 10-17 at Scheels Arena.
Larson, 73 of Rio Vista, Calif., began curling while attending Fargo Central High School. He was a member of curling clubs in Fargo, St. Paul, San Francisco and Wine Country, Calif. He was instrumental in founding the California-Oregon Curling Association in 1978.
Mielke, who grew up in Grafton, N.D., began curling in 1973 while attending the University of North Dakota. In 1982, he was one of the founding members of the Capital Curling Club in Bismarck. He won the 1997 North Dakota men’s state curling championship and represented the region at the 1997 U.S. National Championships.
