Illness forces Bishop Folda of Fargo Diocese to take some time off

FARGO – The new bishop of the Fargo Catholic Diocese is taking some time off to recover from an illness.

Bishop John Folda was diagnosed with hepatitis A, according to WDAY-TV.

Hepatitis A is a contagious liver disease.

Folda contracted the infection through contaminated food while attending a conference for newly ordained bishops in Italy last month.

Folda has been out of the office since Oct. 10.

He’s expected to make a full recovery and start taking appointments in the coming days.
