Letter: Call session; pass storm relief planThe Los Angeles Times article in the Oct. 13 Forum about the effects of the recent regional snowstorm was devastating.
Here’s an idea: North Dakota could show the nation the true meaning of its name and governmental leadership. Neighboring ranchers in South Dakota (and some in our own state) have been devastated by the recent snowstorm. The stupidity of a federal government shutdown and failure to pass a farm bill compound the problem. North Dakota sits on its fat surplus.
Why not pull out all the stops – call the Legislature together for a special session – to help out our neighbors? At the very least, we could extend no-interest loans to those who are affected. Make the process fast and simple. And if we can do more, we should.
