PB2 gives protein shakes peanut butter boost

FARGO – A couple months ago, I decided to add a little extra protein, fat and flavor to my usual protein shake by throwing in a spoonful of peanut butter.

But, duh, the blender ball didn’t do the trick, so I ended up with a chocolate protein shake interrupted by chunks of peanut butter.

Upon sharing my silly “oops” on Facebook, several friends recommended I try PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter.

Powdered? Perfect!

I picked up a 6.5-ounce jar from Swanson Health Products for $3.99 and added a scoop to my next shake. The fine powder mixed easily with the chocolate soy milk and chocolate whey protein, creating a drinkable Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.

From Bell Plantation, PB2 is just as flavorful as regular peanut butter but contains 85 percent less fat calories. It’s made without artificial flavors or sweeteners or preservatives.

The powder is made by slow-roasting high-quality peanuts and pressing them to remove the oil. It can be mixed with water to make a regular peanut butter.

Can’t wait to try the chocolate variety!
