Steele County investigates stabbing involving two brothers

FINLEY, N.D. – The Steele County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing that happened last weekend involving two brothers, one of whom was being held in the Cass County Jail early Wednesday.

According to a written statement released by Steele County Sheriff Wayne Beckman:

A 911 call was made around midnight Saturday regarding a man bleeding at a rural Sharon farm.

Deputies found Charles Charette, 42, with knife wounds to his back. His brother, Larry Charette, 38, was also present.

Charles Charette was taken to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo for treatment of the knife wounds.

Larry Charette was taken to a hospital in Cooperstown, and later to Sanford in Fargo with self-inflicted cuts to his wrists.

As of early Wednesday, Larry Charette was being held in the Cass County Jail and the investigation was ongoing, according to the statement released by Beckman.
