Eagles top Spartans in EDC football for fifth straight victory

FARGO – Fargo Davies used an effective running game to post a 44-0 Eastern Dakota Conference football win over Fargo North late Friday.

The North Dakota Class 3A, No. 5-ranked Eagles (5-2, 4-0 EDC) rushed for 300 yards as a team. Leading the way was senior running back Daylon Melby, who finished with a game-high 115 yards on the ground including a 69-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Davies junior quarterback Aidan Hartness rushed for two touchdowns and also connected with sophomore wide receiver Mitch Vetter for a 9-yard touchdown. Hartness finished with 3 of 13 passing for 51 yards.

Davies has won five straight games after starting the season 0-2. They end the season with two road games against Fargo South (Oct. 19) and West Fargo (Oct. 25).
