Style Profile: Unique look for eyewear stylist

FARGO – Deb Tufte’s style philosophy is simple: Make a statement and don’t look like anyone else.

She also insists that a bright smile is the ultimate accessory, and fabulous eyewear doesn’t hurt either.

I spotted Tufte, who owns Eyes on Broadway with her husband Dr. Mark Tufte, looking classy and fun in cat-eye glasses and a leopard-print jacket at her downtown store.

Describe your style. Classy and flamboyant.

What are you wearing today? Glasses from Eyes On Broadway, Crocs sandals from Las Vegas, and everything else is from Chico’s.

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? Thirty minutes. It used to take me two hours, but now I pick out my clothes the night before and have easy hair.

What’s your style obsession? Shoes. I love comfortable, stylish shoes.

How important is flattering eyewear? Glasses are as much a part of fashion as anything. They’re the first noticeable piece of jewelry on a person.

You travel often with only a carry-on bag. How do you do it? I have three sets of “travelers” from Chico’s that I can mix and match (the line of clothing doesn’t wrinkle). Also, always roll everything.

Any favorite brands or designers besides Chico’s? Calvin Klein, but really, if it looks good and feels good, I buy it regardless of brand.

What’s new in eyewear this season? Big and bold cat eye styles.
