Homeless & Hungry event this weekend

FARGO – Area students and adults will participate in a 24-hour fast and sleep outdoors in cardboard shelters to raise awareness, funds and donations for Fargo-Moorhead shelters from noon Saturday to 2 p.m. Sunday at several area churches and locations.

Participants of all ages are welcome to participate.

Events will include a food and clothing drive, a poverty simulation and a community worship service at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Fargo Civic Center.

Jerry Herships, founder of AfterHours Denver, will speak at the worship service. After Hours Denver distributes food, water and communion to an estimated 400 to 500 people per week in downtown Denver.

Free shopping for those in need will also be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Fargo Civic Center.

Participants will break their fast at 1 p.m. Sunday during a meal at the Fargo Civic Center. The event is open to anyone in need.
