Concordia to honor alumni with awards

MOORHEAD – Concordia College will honor alumni Murrae Freng, George Halvorson, Morris Lanning and Karen (Lattu) Polzin at a homecoming banquet Friday.

Freng, a 1946 graduate, had a career as a band and choral conductor for Brooten and Alexandria, Minn., high schools.

Halvorson, a 1968 graduate, is chairman and former CEO of Kaiser Permanente, the nation’s largest nonprofit health plan and hospital system.

Lanning, a 1968 graduate, was the dean of students for nearly 40 years. He also was mayor of Moorhead and a member of the Minnesota House.

Polzin, a 1977 graduate, had a successful 33-year career at Cargill where she held many high-level leadership roles.
