Weekend watch: Leo Kottke and Loudon Wainwright III

Leo Kottke and Loudon Wainwright III both emerged from the neo-folk scene in the early 1970s, but with polar opposite styles. Kottke is mainly an instrumentalist, letting his fingers do the talking and revered for his picking, an acoustic guitar god on six and 12 strings.

Wainwright is a jokester and a storyteller, best known for novelty tunes like “Dead Skunk.” The two share a bill Friday night at the Fargo Theatre, 314 Broadway. Wainwright is up first at 8 p.m., followed by Kottke. Reserved seat tickets for this all-ages show are $29.50 in advance, $35 the day of the show, though fees may apply. (866) 300-8300.
