Style Profile: Polished look for young professional
For Derek Martin, fall means cardigans and chinos.
The escrow assistant at the Title Company insists one can never have too many colored chinos.
I spotted Martin downtown near Moxie Java wearing a dapper ensemble that featured red pants and a perfectly polished cardigan, tie and button-up shirt.
Describe your style. It’s a mix-match of things. I like mixing business with casual.
What are you wearing today? Shirt from H&M, cardigan from Jiniy online, pants from JCPenney and shoes from DSW.
What inspires your style? I like browsing shopping websites, like Kenneth Cole, for inspiration.
What’s your favorite thing in your closet? My colored chinos! You can have fun with pants.
How long does it take you to get ready? Five to 10 minutes.
What should every man have in his closet? A cardigan. They’re versatile.
Where do you shop? Macy’s, T.J.Maxx and some thrift stores.
What’s your best thrift-store find? A pair of oxblood-color wing tip shoes.
They hurt my feet, but I love them.
It’s Saturday. Where are you? Downtown bars are fun. I like the Bismarck (Tavern) and Dempsey’s, plus any music venues like the Aquarium. Acoustic music is my favorite.
