Fargo police warning minors: No drinking while tailgatingFARGO – The Fargo Police Department is reminding tailgaters that laws forbid people under 21 from purchasing, possessing or consuming alcoholic beverages within the city of Fargo.
Any minor found in possession, or having consumed alcohol must appear in court and may receive a maximum penalty of 30 days in jail, a fine of $1,500, or both, according to a statement issued by the Fargo Police Department.
Young people are also reminded they may receive additional sanctions from any universities or colleges they attend.
North Dakota State University has hosted two home football games so far this year and police issued nine citations Sept. 7 and 13 citations Sept. 21 for underage drinking near the Fargodome.
NDSU’s football tailgating policy states that “under no circumstances shall persons under 21” have possession of alcoholic beverages in tailgating areas.
