Former youth coach pleads guilty in child sex caseDULUTH - A former Little League baseball and Salvation Army youth basketball coach pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Peter Jay Olson, 47, entered the plea before Judge Heather Sweetland. In turn, Sweetland dismissed six other felony counts. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 25.
Prosecutor Rebekka Stumme said the state will argue for the longest possible sentence under the plea deal, which in this case should be about 18 years.
Olson originally was charged with four felonies in June for allegedly assaulting one boy, but prosecutors filed an amended complaint with four additional charges in August when a second alleged victim came forward. Olson coached both of the boys in the Lake Park Little League in Duluth, the complaint says.
Olson was accused of twice sexually assaulting one boy, and taking indecent photographs of him in a separate incident. The amended complaint added allegations that he sexually assaulted and took nude photographs with a second victim.
The incidents occurred over a period of roughly 2005 to 2011, according to the complaint.
