Fargo police dog collars garage burglary suspect
According to a report from Fargo Police Lt. Joel Vettel, this is what happened:
Officers were called to the 3500 block of River Drive South about 4:25 a.m. on a report of a garage prowler.
Police searched the area but couldn’t find anyone so they brought in a police dog.
The dog led officers to an area several houses away from the original caller’s home and it was there that an officer spotted someone wearing a ski mask, standing in the patio doorway of a home.
The officer chased him and the man ran through the house and out the front door.
At that point, the police dog, Falco, was released and ran the man down, biting him in the leg.
Vettel said the suspect, identified as Marc Nathan Brown, 35, of Fargo was taken to the hospital for treatment of a dog bite and later taken to the Cass County Jail.
Vettel said Brown will face charges that may include burglary and resisting arrest.
Vettel said police are looking into whether Brown may be connected to past burglaries in the neighborhood.
