Moose hit by motorist on I-94 near Casselton believed to be same animal spotted earlier in West FargoCASSELTON, N.D. – Authorities think a moose spotted earlier this week in West Fargo is the same animal involved in an early morning accident near here.
A driver was heading west on Interstate 94 around 6 a.m. when his pickup hit the moose near Casselton.
Drew Eman said his truck was pulling a skid steer when he hit the moose head on, shocking him and waking up his friend in the passenger seat.
“I pulled over on the side of the road and I told my buddy, ‘I’m pretty sure I just hit a moose.’ Eman said, “(He said), ‘No you didn’t hit a moose dude; I’m sure you just hit a deer.’”
Authorities say the moose had to be euthanized.
Based on pictures, they said it looks to be the same animal police encountered in West Fargo Monday night.
The driver and passenger were not seriously injured.
