One arrested in Grand Forks sobriety checkpointGRAND FORKS – One person was arrested after driving past a late-night sobriety checkpoint by crossing Interstate 29 median Saturday, law enforcement officials here said.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol’s Sgt. Dolf Oldenburg said the checkpoint was conducted by his agency and the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Department from about 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 2:30 a.m. on I-29 at the southbound off-ramp at Exit 138 here.
Of the 47 vehicles who passed through the checkpoint, three drivers were evaluated for possible impairment. A driver who crossed the I-29 median, bypassing the checkpoint, was arrested.
