Style Profile: Simple, easy style for artist
The 28-year-old artist who goes by Artist Nichole Rae combines comfort with Bohemian wardrobe pieces so she’s ready to snap photos or search for found objects for her mixed-media collages.
The Moorhead native recently moved back to the area from California, and she’s authoring a how-to book about art journaling that will be out next summer.
I spotted Snyder at her studio in the Spirit Room downtown looking happily immersed in creating art.
Describe your style. Simple but slightly Bohemian.
What are you wearing today? Target shirt and skirt, Forever 21 boots and a scarf from my sister.
My jewelry is a collection of items from friends, Chinatown in San Francisco, a boutique in Cincinnati and O’Day Cache (in Fargo).
What’s your daily uniform? I wear a lot of leggings, dresses, flat shoes and long skirts. That’s the California influence in me. I also need to be able to move when I create.
What’s your favorite accessory? A vintage Canon camera around my neck.
I also love scarves – I have at least 30, and I collect silver/pewter jewelry when I travel.
What are your favorite colors? Mustard and teal are my favorite colors right now, my “life colors.”
What do you do when you’re not in the studio? I’m a runner, and I like yoga, meditating and spinning. I’ve also been hooked on juicing lately.
Where can people find your art? I have prints at Unglued and Eddie & Barkus, and I’m part of this year’s FM Visual Artists Studio Crawl (Saturday and Sunday).
