Humane Society of US honors Fargo legislatorFARGO – A Fargo state legislator has been named the recipient of “The Humane Society of the United States’ Humane Legislator Award.”
Rep. Joshua A. Boschee, D-Fargo, will receive the award for pursuing animal protection legislation and working to advance reform in the policymaking arena, according to a release from the Humane Society of the United States.
The Legislature passed a bill earlier this year that created stricter penalties for animal cruelty.
Boschee introduced an amendment to the bill that the group says would have better protected dogs in puppy mills if it had passed. Boschee was also instrumental in grass-roots efforts in North Dakota to protect animals, the release said.
Karen Thunshelle, the HSUS North Dakota state director will present the award to Boschee tonight at the Dike East Dog Park in Fargo.
