Art Hennington has tackled 476 of Minnesota's 482 courses after playing Forest Hills near Detroit Lakes. After one more stop, he can then count on one hand the remaining courses he has yet to play.
"When you're retired, you got nothing but time," Hennington said.
After reviewing a course book put out by the Minnesota Golf Association, Hennington realized he had a shot at playing every course.
"Well, the MGA puts out a booklet and in the booklet they have about 407 courses and I went through it. They put it out like 10 years ago. And I went through it and said, 'Gee, I've played about 150 of these. Maybe I can play all of them,'" he said. "People say, ‘Why are you doing this?’ I'm not getting anything out of it at all. But, just a sense of accomplishment."
Hennington's favorite course in Minnesota is the Wilderness near Lake Vermillion.
"It has these big glacier boulders right in the middle of the fairways and its just spectacular," he said.
