Tower City car-train crash injures one

TOWER CITY, N.D. – One person was injured Saturday night when the car she was driving was hit by a train north of Tower City.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Dawn Flaig, 54, of Leonard, N.D., was driving north on 134th Ave. S. at 7:17 p.m. when she started crossing the train tracks but was struck by a west-bound BNSF train.

The 2012 GMC Acadia she was driving received major front-end damage, totaling the vehicle. Flaig was transported by LifeFlight to Essentia Health in Fargo. The extent of her injuries has not been released.

Flaig faces charges for failing to yield.
