Letter: Why do some people have a dog?

From a dog’s perspective:

Around 10 years ago, some people came and took me home. I was so happy because now I would have a family and a home. They would play with me and go for walks.

I soon found out to my dismay that a wire cage behind the garage was to be my home. There was a doggie door that led into the garage. This has been my home for 10 years or more. I never go for walks, never see anyone or any other dogs. All I see are weeds that grow around my cage.

Why did these people want me? I guess they can take their cruelty out on doggies but can’t get by with it on people.

People who are cruel to animals are also cruel to people.

I wish someone would help me. I can’t choose my owners. Kids can’t choose parents either.

Some luck out and some don’t. If everyone would observe how dogs are treated on this block and report these incidents, it might help.
