Letter: Better to ask Jesus, not Myhre

In his Sept. 16 letter, Mike Myhre asks what Jesus would say/do about Obamacare, food stamps, living wage and better schooling. As if Jesus is the ideal “liberal” for social needs. I believe his answer would not be directed to politicians but rather to the Christian church. He says to the “church” to feed the hungry, cloth the naked, take care of widows, visit the sick and so on and not to be dependent on government. I would admit the “church” has not done a very good job.

I’ve read Myhre’s letters over the years and I’m grateful he is not the “go-to man” for biblical truth. I wish he’d stick to his political views and quit interjecting “religion” out of context. Personally I’d rather inquire of Jesus what he thinks about the moral issues of our day within the church that are contrary to his teachings in the Scriptures.
