Almont man accused of causing fatal New Salem crashBISMARCK — An Almont man has been charged for his role in a July crash that killed a New Salem woman who was delivering mail.
Twenty-one-year-old Ernest Borntrager is charged with negligent homicide.
The Bismarck Tribune (http://bit.ly/18Aocta ) reports a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Borntrager is accused of causing the death of 66-year-old Martha Kautzman, who was critically injured July 7 north of New Salem and died July 30.
A trooper wrote in an affidavit that Borntrager swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of him and struck Kautzman's vehicle on the driver's side when she was stopped on the shoulder of the road.
The trooper wrote that Borntrager going faster than the 65 mph speed limit and pulling a trailer that didn't have functioning brakes.
