Letter: Kelsh information was very welcomeThank you, Rep. Jerry Kelsh (Your Opinion on Saturday, Sept. 14), for making me aware of just how much natural gas that comes out with the oil in western North Dakota is being wasted by flaring. With coming overpopulation of the Earth, every resource is valuable. Voters need to know that if our laws are saving lives and saving fetuses, that surely they need to save natural gas to provide for that population.
Furthermore, I was appalled to read that same day on the front page that the North Dakota Petroleum Council opposes using 5 percent of the state’s oil extraction taxes to fund water, wildlife and parks projects. The residents of North Dakota today and tomorrow will pay dearly for water and clean air in the future. Can you not see that water and air pollution are happening right in front of our very eyes?
