Cobbers football holds on for victory

STORM LAKE, Iowa – The Concordia defense held strong after a late fourth-quarter fumble by the offense as the Cobbers defeated Buena Vista 21-13 in nonconference college football on Saturday.

“It was a good win,” Concordia head coach Terry Horan said. “It was a sloppy game at times but any time you can get a win on the road, it’s a good win.”

After the fumble, the Cobbers defense forced Buena Vista to turn the ball over on downs, as the Beavers made it into Concordia territory on a potential game-tying drive.

Concordia QB Griffin Neal finished with 147 passing yards – 122 went to wide receiver Brandon Zylstra, who caught an 85-yard touchdown on the Cobbers’ first possession.

“He had a huge play on the first series,” Horan said of Zylstra. “This is the second week in a row he has had a big touchdown for us. He’s a game-breaker with great speed.”
