Guardian of boy found wandering contacts Fargo policeFARGO – Nearly eight hours after a 4-year-old boy was found wandering alone Saturday near the 2100 block of busy South University Drive, Fargo Police reported they were contacted by the child’s guardian.
Lt. Joel Vettel said police were contacted by the child’s guardian about 5:40 p.m.
Vettel said early indications are that some miscommunications led to the boy wandering alone before he was found by a woman driving in the area about 10 a.m.
“It appears there was some miscommunication between (the guardian) and a baby-sitter,” Vettel said. “It appears both thought that perhaps the child was somewhere else.”
Vettel said police were still trying to sort through what had happened, as well as why the child was not reported missing for about eight hours.
After the passerby had called in her discovery of the lost child, police took over and canvassed the area to try to find his parents. They later contacted media outlets to ask for the public’s help.
