Wahpeton runner wins first heat of Mudman Fargo 5K event

GLYNDON, Minn. - Ryan Sheeley of Wahpeton, N.D. raced to a time of 30 minutes , 31 seconds to win the first heat of the inaugural Fargo Mudman 5K race on Saturday at Buffalo River Race Park.

Sheeley, 20, was one of nearly 1,000 entrants to complete the course filled with a variety of obstacles.

Sheeley competed in the event with his 43-year old father Chad Sheeley, who finished close behind his son.

"It was great to get out and run with my dad," Ryan Sheeley said. "It's great to have a little father and son bonding time plus get in a little exercise too. We wanted to finish near the top and I think we succeeded in that goal."
