Fargo police issue 40 citations in traffic stingFARGO – An undercover policeman “spotted” violations that resulted in 40 tickets for drivers on Friday.
Police targeted traffic violations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the area of University Drive and 12th Avenue North, according to a news release.
The plainclothes looked for violations such as drivers texting or speeding, and then report them to officers waiting to make a traffic stop.
Officers handed out: 10 tickets for texting, 16 red-light violations, five tickets for not wearing a seat belt, three speeding tickets, one citation for careful driving, two tickets for no insurance, two tickets for driving without a license and one ticket for expired registration.
Eight other drivers were “talked to” about distracted driving, the release stated.
