Letter: Just looking for a theater reviewJust wondering where the review for the local production of “Schoolhouse” – the regional premiere of a lovely and regionally pertinent theatrical prose, supported with original music by a local composer written specifically for “Schoolhouse,” directed and cast with some of the strongest thespians of all ages in the F-M area – can be found in today’s (Friday) issue of The Forum? Did I miss it? I looked, but my failing eyesight could have certainly betrayed me.
Given that this production has a short timeline – given the struggling environment for the arts and the limited staging time available at STIP (the Stage at Island Park) – an early (opening night) review by the town daily would certainly be a reasonable expectation by any, if not all, local arts patrons.
With limited dollars (and sometimes sense), the consumer often relies on word-of-mouth, of which actual reviews are very helpful. Last night I laughed, I cried and, along with a very appreciative audience, I stood on my feet applauding the efforts of a fabulously entertaining cast, more-than-capable composer and a clearly she-knows-what-she’s-doing director in Charlene Hudgins.
Kudos to this clearly work-of-love production from a Canadian playwright, brought to life by a cast of local stars in the making.
So, where’s the review, Forum?
