Style Profile: Outdoorsy style for college junior
The 20-year-old Concordia College student likes to identify mushrooms in the wild, although he doesn’t pick them for consumption. It makes sense then that Knutson would have outdoorsy style, but he also appreciates designer labels like Prada.
I spotted the biology and environmental studies major at Atomic Coffee & Wine Bar wearing a neutral, outdoorsy ensemble.
Describe your style. Rugged, modern and outdoorsy.
What are you wearing today? Keen hiking shoes, Columbia shorts, Patagonia zip, Burton backpack and Prada glasses.
How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? It takes about 15 minutes if I don’t shower. With a shower, 30 minutes.
What’s your favorite thing in your closet? Windbreakers. They’re super comfy, lightweight and great for outdoors.
When you’re not wearing your Keens, what’s on your feet? Sperry Top-Siders, wool clogs or Vans.
What would you never wear? A “bro tank.” They’re the surfer-style tank tops.
I’d also never wear sweatpants.
Where do you shop? Locally, I like Beyond Running (downtown Fargo shoe store), Outermost Layer (athletic/outdoor apparel store in downtown Fargo) and Scheels.
I also shop at REI, Patagonia, Urban Outfitters and Eddie Bauer.
What’re your favorite outdoor activities? I like camping, kayaking and foraging mushrooms. I basically like being immersed in nature.
Where do you like to travel? Portland, Ore., Maine, Alaska – I like any outdoorsy places.
