West Fargo crash sends 2 to hospital, causes lawn chemical leak

WEST FARGO – Two people were sent to the hospital Thursday morning in a crash here that left a lawn care truck leaking chemicals.

It happened about 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of 12th Avenue North and Country Road 17.

According to West Fargo Police Sgt. Gary Bommersbach, the crash occurred when a lawn care truck driving south on County Road 17 rear-ended a vehicle that was ahead of it that was stopped at the intersection.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, Bommersbach said.

The West Fargo Fire Department cleaned up the chemical spill using absorbent materials.

According to Bommersbach, chemicals involved included fertilizer, liquid iron and Trimec, a weed killer.

The names of the drivers were not immediately available.

The lawn care truck had the name “The Groundsman” of Valley City, N.D., emblazoned on its side.
