Cooperstown man dies in garbage truck crashMcVILLE, N.D. – A 50-year-old man from Cooperstown died after he was thrown from a garbage truck in a crash near here Monday morning.
According to a report issued by the North Dakota Highway Patrol:
The incident happened about 8:35 a.m. on 109th Avenue Northeast, about three miles north of McVille.
A garbage truck driven by J.J. Zaun, 19, of Cooperstown, lost traction on wet gravel. The truck entered the ditch and rolled once.
A passenger in the truck was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Zaun was treated and released from a hospital in McVille, which is about 60 miles west of Grand Forks.
The crash is under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
